Wat Arun


Just a short walk away from Wat Pho lies the grandeur of the Grand Palace. This sprawling complex has served as the official residence of the Kings of Siam since 1782. Marvel at the opulence of the Temple of the Emerald Buddha (Wat Phra Kaew), Thailand's most revered Buddhist temple. The complex is truly grand, and you could easily spend a few hours exploring its intricate architecture and rich history. Head towards the bustling Tha Tien Pier for a short but scenic ferry ride across the Chao Phraya River to Wat Arun, the Temple of Dawn. Its stunning prang (spires) decorated with colorful porcelain are a sight to behold. Climb to the top for a panoramic view of the river and cityscape. Alternatively you can also book night boat cruise over Chao Phraya river and witness its majestic skyline perched right beside the river.  A short tuk-tuk ride will take you to Jim Thompson House,  the former home of the American businessman who revitalized the Thai silk industry. This beautifully preserved house, now a museum, is set amidst lush gardens and provides a fascinating glimpse into traditional Thai architecture and art.

No trip to Bangkok is complete without exploring its vibrant night markets. Head to Khao San road to indulge in thai street food. From pad thai and mango sticky rice to grilled skewers and exotic insect delicacies, the array of culinary delights is sure to tantalize your taste buds. Patpong Night Market in the Silom and Chatuchak weekend market offers a variety of goods, from clothing to souvenirs, and is surrounded by lively bars and clubs. Alternatively, you can also explore Jodd Faire (Train Market) near Dan Neramit to avoid overwhelming crowd. This night market has everything from delicious food, chill vibes, hot air balloons, drinks and even a castle ! Finally, for a more upscale experience, head to a rooftop bar like Sky Bar at Lebua State Tower, famous from the movie "The Hangover Part II," offering breathtaking views of the city skyline.

Bangkok, is also well know for its adult night life. Catch the professional ladyboys performing Broadway-style shows to Chinese love ballads & Geisha dancing at any one the clubs in Silom and Sukhumvit road.

PS: Bangkok's ancient name is "Krung Thep Maha Nakhon," which is a shortened version of its full ceremonial name.
The full name is: "Krung Thep Maha Nakhon Amon Rattanakosin Mahinthara Ayuthaya Mahadilok Phop Noppharat Ratchathani Burirom Udomratchaniwet Mahasathan Amon Piman Awatan Sathit Sakkathattiya Witsanukam Prasit."
This name translates to 
"City of Angels, Great City of Immortals, Magnificent City of the Nine Gems, Seat of the King, City of Royal Palaces, Home of Gods Incarnate, Erected by Visvakarman at Indra's Behest."

Locally, Thais commonly refer to the city as "Krung Thep".

  How far can one push themselves to experience the smugness of summiting this beautiful peak?  This story is the answer to the question. Chandrashila Peak Standing tall at around 4000 meters, Chandrashila peak lies in the quaint little village of Chopta 30 kilometers ahead of Ukimath in Uttarakhand.
